Fondation Maeght

The medieval town of Saint-Paul-de-Vence has been a refuge for artists for decades, including Marc Chagall, who lived and worked there until his death.
It was here that the art collectors Aimé and Marguerite Maeght founded the Fondation Maeght in 1964, which is one of the most important art collections for modern and contemporary art in the world and has been shaped by artists from the very beginning: Le Corbusier student Josep Lluís Sert, together with Joan Miró and Georges Braque, designed the striking ensemble of buildings.
The latter, as well as the Giacometti brothers and Pierre Tal-Coat, also designed parts of the extensive grounds.
