Mallorca produces some of the best extra virgin olive oils in the world! But how can you recognise a genuine, high-quality olive oil from the island?

100% natural: Hand-harvested olives from traditional varieties such as Arbequina or Picual. Es Roquissar olive oil, for example, comes from the highest olive groves in the Tramuntana
mountains and tastes slightly bitter and medium-hot, which is a sign of quality.
Cold-pressed: Mechanical extraction takes place at below 27°C for maximum flavour.
Fruity & intense: Notes of almonds, tomato leaves & grass are often flavours.
D.O. seal of quality: The official ‘Denominació d'Origen Oli de Mallorca’ guarantees the highest quality. D.O. certificate of origin. Oli de Mallorca is guaranteed extra virgin and 100% cold-pressed. The control number - a certificate of authenticity. This means you can always trace which finca your olive oil comes from and when it was harvested. Each bottle with DO certification bears an individual control number. This number confirms that the oil has been rigorously tested and meets the highest quality standards. Only producers who fulfil all the requirements are awarded this seal.
