Hardly anything stimulates the imagination more than abandoned houses, factory buildings or vehicles.
What took place here? Why was the building, even the whole place abandoned and became a ghost settlement? Abandoned places fascinate those who come after them, as they tell confusing, sad, melancholy stories and confront the transience of all being. Some “lost places” are conquered by nature, others, like the village of Gines near Guadalest on the Costa Blanca, come to life once a year when a mass is celebrated in the church followed by a paella dinner. The charm of the ephemeral, inspiring, magically attractive and creepy at the same time.
