Salalah - The Caribbean of the Orient - A hidden paradise
Salalah, the capital of the province of Dhofar in the south of Oman, is often referred to as
the “Caribbean of the Orient”. This description is no coincidence. During the monsoon
season, also known as Khareef, the region is transformed into a lush, green paradise, reminiscent of tropical climes with its lush greenery, gushing waterfalls and misty mountains. The scent of incense fills the air and combines with the freshness of the monsoon - an experience that touches all the senses.
Salalah is a real gem for outdoor enthusiasts. The region offers a variety of breathtaking
landscapes to explore. From the lush meadows of Wadi Darbat, which come to life
during the monsoon season, to the majestic hills of Jebel Samhan, which offer breathtaking
views of the Arabian Sea. For hikers and nature lovers, exploring this unspoilt nature is an unforgettable adventure. Particularly impressive are the Mughsail beaches with their
spectacular blowholes, through which the sea water is thrown metres high into the air.
